A film of two halves exploring contrasting rituals for the production and pursuit of desire, both sections of the film are shot in a London public park. In the first half, woodland glades are criss-crossed by lone men, and the stage is set for the ancient ritual of gay cruising . As night falls the border between the halves is marked by details of Piero di Cosimo’s Forest Fire, where humans are metamorphosing into animals, and when we return to the park another company of men are working to light a film set in the trees. A deadpan and meticulous Gaffer oversees the younger men’s work and banter, and he in turn reports to a middle–aged female director, who is the artist’s mother.
